Welcome
"We may encounter many defeats but we must not be defeated." Maya Angelou
Get to know me!
Get to know me!
What happens when the one who heals needs healing? When the use of your brain, intellect and all five senses: the lock and stock of your profession is suddenly gone askew? When used to functioning at a high level, suddenly become unable to perform the most rudimentary task? How do you go from the top of your game to bottom of the heap and still want to go on living? To what threads of hope do you cling? Do you practice what you have preached to your patients for decades or do you drown in your own hypocrisy?
Often, life events so painful and traumatic can only be revisited in retrospect. Then, and only then can you reach to pick it up, turn it over, examine it more closely without imploding. It is when the opportunity arises for you to find the strength to transform into a more resilient self. This is an ongoing personal "restrospective" of my experience as a health professional with traumatic brain injury. This is my encounter from "the other side of the stethoscope".
I look forward to hearing from you
